Actually, this post should be called snowboarding.
Though it really doesn’t matter.
So my family is going snowboarding for the next week.
Well actually, a part is going skiing.
But it really doesn’t matter.
I’m not joining them.
Well, actually I am joining them.
Just not for the skiing / snowboarding itself.
I am joining for all the rest though.
And that’s already a part of the answer to why?: There is a
lot of other stuff one can do.
There’s so many fun things that one can do in the mountains that doesn’t
involve destroying their nature.
- Running - Hiking - Biking - Reading - Relaxing - Drinking tea -
Ski-walking (is this a thing in English?)
It
really
is.
And of course there are ways to reduce those impacts.
But it’s always gonna stay bad for the environment.
So I don’t judge people who go skiing / snowboarding
nevertheless.
Because I see that it’s a lot of fun.
And I simply don’t know what its place in my utopia will be.
I do judge people though that don’t think about their
environmental impact and at least take measures to reduce it.
But that’s not my family (anymore).
Either way, I’m not gonna continue a sport that I can’t morally
support.
At least not for now.
