Skiing

Actually, this post should be called snowboarding.

Snowboarding

Though it really doesn’t matter.

So my family is going snowboarding for the next week.
Well actually, a part is going skiing.
But it really doesn’t matter.

I’m not joining them.

Why?

Well, actually I am joining them.
Just not for the skiing / snowboarding itself.
I am joining for all the rest though.

And that’s already a part of the answer to why?: There is a lot of other stuff one can do.
There’s so many fun things that one can do in the mountains that doesn’t involve destroying their nature.
- Running - Hiking - Biking - Reading - Relaxing - Drinking tea - Ski-walking (is this a thing in English?)

But skiing isn’t bad for the environment!

It really is.
And of course there are ways to reduce those impacts.
But it’s always gonna stay bad for the environment.

So?

So I don’t judge people who go skiing / snowboarding nevertheless.
Because I see that it’s a lot of fun.
And I simply don’t know what its place in my utopia will be.

I do judge people though that don’t think about their environmental impact and at least take measures to reduce it.
But that’s not my family (anymore).

Either way, I’m not gonna continue a sport that I can’t morally support.
At least not for now.
