Magdeburg

Yesterday a car was driven into a christmas market in Magdeburg.
The driver was an islamophobic probably right-extremist sympathisant of the AfD and Elon Musk.
He also came from Saudi Arabia, had an asylum status and was a psychiatrist.1

Since he’s a migrant, fascists are able to mobilize hundreds of people to Magdeburg, today, the day after the attack.
Already in Social Media the prevalent narrative is that the migrants are to be blamed for this attack.

This is so absurd.
How is it possible that fascists are able to instrumentalize an attack of another fascist?
How do people not see that an islamophobe is not representable for all muslims?
How can people support a demonstration in part from the party, AfD, that the attacker supported, which is supposed to be a statement against the attacker?

How are people so stupid?

Despite feeling a lot of anger right now, this is also quite the dangerous situation, I think.
Just remember what happened after the attack in Solingen.
What followed was increased support for fascists and stricter (i.e. more inhuman) immigration rules.
And those rules were not just supported by AfD, but by all parties, except for Die Linke.

What comes next?
What will the political implications of this attack be?
How far can we shift right as a society, before ending up in fascism?
